a hint of salt, a dash of salt (6 1/2 in. X 12 5/8 in.) was created from the love I have for hot cheetos and it plays on the idea: something so
good can be so bad. This is one of those projects that begin as one concept and the final result is not at all the initial idea.
Yet, it is a project which can start a conversation. The initial idea was for the piece to look as a bag of chips, because I
enjoy eating Hot Cheetos. I designed it in Illustrator after researching various bag sizes, ingredient lists, and layout options.
My goal was to recreate a bag of chips to capture the "love" aspect, and to include the ingredients as the "harm/bad" aspect of
chips while maintaining a captivating packaging. As far as the design goes I used a mouth with a tongue to indicate food and to
be provocative. The color palette was choosen because pink is typically related to the female gender. The ingredients relate
back to the female gender and the labels that are put on women using synonyms: slut, tramp, whore, tart, hooker, harlot, floozy.
It was a piece that despite looking "nice" it was the opposite, just as a big of chips is good it can be deadly.
